We are upgrading the bedding in our v-berth. We are planning to live aboard our Columbia for another year to year and a half. Struggling with that balance of making ourselves comfortable vs. putting money into a boat we know we are selling. Comfy bedding would be a selling bonus, but certainly not something that will raise the value. We currently have 2 overused therma-rests on top of the original mattress. All that said, I am down to 2 choices: leave the existing v-berth mattress and top with a 4" mattress topper or pull the existing v-berth mattress and use an 8" memory foam mattress. Anyone have experience here?

We put 4" memory foam toppers over all of our mattresses. Everyone aboard, including this past weekend, gets up in the morning say how comfortable they are.

Buy the generic plain foam toppers in the smallest size that is larger than the mattress and cut to size with a bread knife or electric meat slicer. Queen size was about $150 if I recall.
