hey guys,

my friend and i just pull a vanguard 470 that has been sitting beind his house for about 10-15 years. his parents had a ll the sails and ropes stored. the only problem now is that we can;t figure out the riggings for the pulley system that operate the boon(spelling?) to the main sail. does anyone have a manual for the boat or photo of the rigging?

thank you,

Doug Jaks

ahem

Aw, come on guys. This looks pretty straight forward:

Good luck, though! Should be tons o' fun!:D

You should do yourselves a favor and read some books or find someone to show you the ropes (which by the way are lines, or more specifically, sheets, halyards, etc. on a sailboat.) As soon as you put it on a boat, it gets a different name. The names aren't important. Knowing what they do, however, is vital.

Nah, man. You might want to check here. It's a different class, but I'm betting the running rigging (look it up) is pretty similar. People there could likely point you in the right direction.

You really should do some research. Buy some books. Take a class. Find a sailor friend. It's a great sport/hobbie/lifestyle, and you'll find people VERY willing to help. I'm not trying to dissuade you from asking questions here, but you should get a good baseline of knowledge first.

Best of luck and let us know how things turn out! :)

ps. You're not likely to find a "manual" of the kind I think you are imagining.
