Recently pulled the injectors on this engine for cleaning and new tips. Was supposed to be simple (everyone said). Anyway the problem has been getting them to reseat. Was able to get one seated, however the other I have ended up having to replace.
Here is the problem. Still cannot get the thing (new one) to seat properly. It spews diesel when the engine is cranked. I changed their position and this one injector spews fuel in either spot. Today I ordered a new fuel line for it, but have no idea if it will take care of the problem.
Anyone have any ideas or had a similar problem. I have a mechanic helping. One mechanic I contacted, just said "I run from MD7A injectors"!
Not comforting at all. This also was my week of vacation. I am stuck at the dock. Possible solutions are welcome!

Seating?

Usually when using the word seating we associate this with the injector seating in the head. I suspect you mean the seating of the HP connection.

Try this......put the injector in its pocket and put the clamp on but leave the clamp loose enough to allow the injector to mover sideways.

Now connect up the HP connection moving the injector so it lines up and do not put any washers or anything else in the connection and do it up tight once both injectors are coupled to the HP pipes connect up the smaller spill pipe using new white metal washers if possible. If using old copper washers then heat them to red heat on the grill and drop into a glass of water... This softens them. You may have to adjust the bends in this pipe for it to fit easily.

Now tighten down the injector clamps.

You will have to slacken off the spill and HP connections for priming the engine.

Thanks for the info. Have tried all the suggestions except the heating of the copper washers. On the old injector I replaced and used new white washers however, the new injector I have purchased did come with copper,so I will try the heat thing.
Also it is the in flow fitting at the connection that is leaking.
Have not had to prime the engine so far. Just cut the fuel supply while working and when ready to try turn it on. It turns and cranks almost immediately. My turnoff is beside the engine.
Like I said I have ordered a new fuel line for the injector thinking that the in flow connector is somehow bad or that the old fuel line is not fitting the new injector.

Neicy,
I read on another thread that you did solve this problem. I too have a MD 7A. No injector problems yet (knock on wood) but for future reference, wonder what the solution to the seating problem was. Was the old fuel line incompatible with the new injector?
