Water Heater Tank Construction

I'm planning to replace the water heater in Elnora this spring and I'm considering an aluminum tank heater due to the lower cost.

I also believe you "get what you pay for" so am a little leery of the aluminum tanks.

I've found three main tank materials….stainless, "glass lined steel" and aluminum.

Any preferences? horror stories? Favorite/or least favorite brands of water heaters?

It's my money and I want your help spending it.

Practical Sailor did recent review and really poopoohed the aluminum ones, weren't psyched about the glass lined steel (although those it really seemed like snobbery as they performed well) and really liked the stainless ones. FWIW.
