Howzit Cal sailors,
The wind has been howling over here, so we decided to head out and see what our Cal27 could handle. Saturdays wind at Dillingham airfield(Mokule'ia) was clocked at 48 knots! By Sunday afternoon it had backed down to 20-30 with gusts . Later found out that winds reached to 35 that day. Anyway,we reefed down the main and ran a storm tri and were rewarded with a great sail. Saw many whales. Only one other sailboat out that day and they were getting paid to do it. A whale watching cat out of Hale'iwa. All in all, it was fun and we learned a couple things about our boat and ourselves. Small craft warnings doesn't mean that we can't go, just be more careful and pay attention to the conditions. Got a couple of pics on the way home.
Aloha ka'kou,
Leonard
