How's the boat coming along, post some pictures
well, the recent weather isn't helping me out much.
i will take some more pics in a week or so. i replaced a damaged stanchion, have done a lot of paint scraping, and built a new companionway hatch out of azak. i am presently making the new sliding doors to replace the ones missing, inside. i replaced the gooseneck. it was a bit sloppy. the holes were all egged out. i am getting ready to build my new composting head. that ought to be cool. not going store bought. why buy what you can make? going to use azak for that, too.
but the extreme cold is keeping me from painting or anything that needs moderate temps and can't be done in my basement. the snow has gotten in the way, too. if i can't get there on the weekend...
i have a job that i will complete in a week, or so, that's going to land a decent pay day. at that time i will be buying the wiring supplies, and some nice interior lights, and will start the rewiring process.
i should be done with all the 'fine' wood stuff, like the doors, this week. if the temps warm up, i will sand and restain all of the interior wood, at that time.
i have been doing a lot of planning and research. i have drawn blueprints for the new coach roof, to replace the pop top. but i can't fiberglass because of the cold. so, it's no use to build it, now, and have it cluttering up the already cluttered basement til warmer weather.
if the cold holds out, i will begin constructing the new folding dining table. it is missing the table it came with. i have designed a different one that will give me more interior room than the factory one. hopefully, after that, the weather will allow me to do all the temperature sensitive stuff.
once i paint the interior, i can install the new interior lights.
still deciding on some of the interior stuff. there is a space opposite the head area that looks like it may have had shelving. i am considering building an enclosed shelf locker, there. it would be a short one because there is a porthole, there.
also considering adding a nav table to the side of the counter, on the starboard side. one that folds down. also trying to decide where and how i want to mount the radio and the AC converter, i am going to buy for her.
stll very undecided about a motor. i am leaning towards motorless but considering electric, 2 stroke, or diesel. but all three of them seem more expensive than i think they are worth...worth to me. how often would i actually use a motor? probably not much. i went 18 years without ever using one. so, i really don't put a motor in a place of high value. but, of course, everyone thinks you are crazy and headed for certain doom if you don't have one. so, i am still mulling that one over.
considering whether or not to change from a tiller to a wheel. i would build my own system. notice how clear and uncluttered the top weekender's cockpit is? now imagine it with a tiller running through pretty near the entire thing. that's my boat. so, i have been considering. going to try shortening the tiller, first, but the more i think of it the more i like the idea of doing a wheel. but, i have never used one to know if i would like it.
once the weather clears, i have a rigger that's going to go aloft and inspect, for me. he is also going to tune my stays and hook me up with all new, quality lines. his prices seem fair, too.
alsoo, making my plans for when i haul her, after it warms up. i have a good bit to do and not a lot of time on the hard to do it. i have to make sure i have my ducks in a row.
so, i am spending entirely too much time with the boat on my mind:laugher
