I have a 1979 islander 32 with the L 25. The day before thanksgiving I had a runaway and got it shut down before any damage was done. The westerbeke dealer consensious is that the injector pump was not the cause. It was bad valves or guides that allowed crankcase oil into the cylinders. The engine was running by sucking oil from the crankcase as evidenced by missing oil. Up until then the engine never had a problem and started easy and purred. Never used a drop.

Time for a more modern engine I can get parts for so I am offering the L 25 for sale here in demopolis Alabama. I Have removed the engine and is ready to ship. Transmission and gauge panel is included. Wires are marked for reconnection.

Question for both of you.

I too have a 79 islander 32 and had an issue with the internal water pump. Went around the world to find the 5 part kit and finally located it, only it only had 4 of the 5 parts. Lucky me the primary issue was with the shaft. I've got it pulled but it looks like there is some odd wear around the impeller. Each fin has a fairly uniform (80% the same), U-shaped wear pattern about an 1/8th of an inch from the outer ring.

Is this how it is supposed to be or should I have the machine shop weld it up some?
