I need a new heat exchanger - well technically my engine does. I check and got a quote for a Westerbeke HE for $725. Found an aftermarket unit, made in the USA for $98. I even have a can of (overpriced) Westerbeke paint so I can make it match. Something wrong with this picture? Not all of the crooks are on Wall Street.

I found that VHT engine enamel SP152 (Ford Red) is almost a prefect match for the Westerbeke red, however, what does not match is the price at seven bucks. :D

What did go wrong with your HE and which engine do you have?

Yes please post.

FWIW You may have to fabricate brackets. Not a huge deal but part of the project...

Seakamp Engineering in Bellingham got me a replacement core - same day - for our Bowman HE.. not $100 but not $700 either.. Apparently they stock unfinished cores and complete to length on order. Wouldn't be a tough thing to ship.. Worth an inquiry?

Just looking at the link, looks like the $98 is for the oil cooler, not sure if that is what your looking for. Looks like the coolant coolers are about 129 still excellent resource if the quality is good. Has anyone used them?

I see they have my 'Bowman' core at $284... not a bad price comparatively.. We paid more from Seakamp but got it same day after driving to Bellingham.
