Anyone know what style bulbs I need to go up the mast with when replacing my tricolor , steaming and anchor lite bulbs on my 88' PSC 34 ?
Hoping to try out the DR LED bulbs.
I'd like to know in advance so its just one perilous trip up the mast.
Anyone know the manufacturer of the lite fixtures as well?

A number of companies make tricolor lights. Probably the most common is the AquaSignal. The replacement bulb for the Aquasignal is made by Seafit model #4810834. That's the 25 watt one. They also have a 10 watt.

anchor light

My anchor light stopped working so I went up to investigate. Things were corroded up there and I will have to replace the light so I plan to go with LED.

Things were moving around a bit so I was not able to look carefully at what will be needed to get the old one out. Is it just a matter of some screws (now corroded ) or do you have to replace a plate to get at nuts for a bolt?

I have an '88 PSC 31 with the LeFiell mast.

Hi John,
Having not been up there at all yet I don't know what to expect. I'd love to simply have the item I need in my hands when I get up there thus the post.
But perhaps I have a bit of the same problems u do. May need to consider replacing the whole unit with one specifically designed for LED use. DR LED has a pretty cool looking unit that includes the anchor light. It apparently turns the anchor light off automatically when the sun rises.

Guys, my best advice for you is that you come up with a way to get up and down the mast that you are comfortable with and get used to being up there.
There is really no way to know what you are going to run into when you set about removing the old fixtures. In all likelihood, fasteners will shear off or the heads will strip out. You don't have any idea of the condition of the wires or if you have enough old wire coming out of the mast to work with. You have to figure out how to mount the new one where it will be visible and not interfere with the Windex etc.
Are you going to drill and tap, use rivets, or God forbid, self tappers?
In other words, it's probably going to take you a few trips.
Get used to being aloft before you attempt a real job.
I carry a crap load of tools and materials in my chair and it never fails. Almost every job I do, I still have to have someone send me something up.

Led's are a good way to go, but they're expensive. There are some that will operate as a anchor light as well as a tri-color with only two wires.

PSC37 Bulb PN's and Lopolight?

Mondo:

For our 2000 model year PSC37, we have a Perko 1178 all around white anchor light on the top of the mast. It takes two Type 71 10w bulbs. The Perko p/n is 0071DP0CLR. Here is a link to their online catalog.

Our Steaming light is a Forespar - combination steaming light / deck light, ML-2. The steaming light is p/n 132025 "WN-211 Top Bulb". Here is a link to the Forespar online information.

I'm thinking of replacing the anchor light (currently 2x10w, pun intended :laugher ) and going with a sealed Lopolight. Link here. Anyone have experience with these pricey units?

I've got a Lopologht bi-color at the bow. It has been to Hawaii and back, and has held up great. I replaced the deck-level running lights with LEDS not for the power savings, but because the connectors in my original Aqua Signal bi-color kept corroding, causing the light to fail when I needed it. The well-sealed Lopolight is showing no sign of corrosion.

At the masthead I had replaced the bulbs in my Aqua Signal Anchor/Tri-color with "FirstStar" LED bulbs. These were quite expensive, and may not be the best solution now -- this was about five years ago. Corrosion wasn't a problem at the mast head, but power consumption of the tricolor during long passages was a big factor for me.
