We bought a boat recently and there was some old parts aboard that I'm not sure what to do with. There are a couple old alternators and a couple voltage regulators. Any way to determine if they are worth keeping as spares or should I just junk them?

Most autoparts stores will test alternators for free. Alternators can also be rebuilt and often times with an increase in output. Your average 30-50 amp alternator can be upped to around 1oo amps for about $100If you have the room, I would keep at least spare on board. Otherwise , I would start a boat parts storage area in the garage. If you want to junk them , I can give you an address to ship them to.{HA HA}
