Nowhere does it say the winner will be notified. On August 20th we will do a random drawing to select the winner. The winner will have a few days to message this account with their information (following the announcement) or another random winner will be selected.
sureI will announce the winner once I hear back from them!
I piss on your vegemite (I know it will be hard for you to tell, but I will know)Don, did you read the rules???
As it turns out, you won. But as you didn't claim your prize it was given to me. Your set of Adult Toys is coming in very handy!
This is something they do over on that other forum quite regularly. The idea is if they get enough buy-in that all the incoming links will affect the google algorithms enough to benefit the the award giver... not to mention the extra traffic...although in this case I don't see Amazon benefiting too much. I "won" a 25% off certificate from Mantus once which made a bit more sense.Ironic that the software platform doesn't have private messages anymore. They are now called conversations. One would click on their Account Details at the top right, then Conversations, which would presumably show a tag with an unread message. This whole offer never made any sense. Now that it's radio silent, it's beginning to seem all that much more like a scam.
I remain fascinated by these new online business models. So does SN get more eyes on it's site, by moving up the search engine pages and then getting more ad revenue, or do they hope to get a piece of the action, if others click on the links provided and make a purchase? The idea is if they get enough buy-in that all the incoming links will affect the google algorithms enough to benefit the the award giver.
Well sort of, but actually it's Amazon (in this case) that benefits the most. One very important indicator that search engines use is how many links to a given site exist. Amazon is a bad example, but let's say it was Mantus sponsoring the prize. If 1000 people here liked to Mantus' site that would actually affect the rating. The higher the rating the more they move up the listings and the more traffic they get. It's not about ad revenue or sales per se (but it all helps and sales is obviously the end goal) but more along the lines of traditional advertising: brand recognition and placement in marketplace. well worth the couple of hundred for a prize.I remain fascinated by these new online business models. I don't begrudge marketing. The thing that's odd these days, is genuine online marketing and online scams can look awfully similar.
So? Winner? Yes? No?View attachment 140012

Starting to look like they kept the algorithm benefit and stiffed the participants on $100.The idea is if they get enough buy-in that all the incoming links will affect the google algorithms enough to benefit the the award giver
