On my boom I am replacing the outhaul line. the boat is new to me and I noticed that the reason why the line was highly chaffed is because the hole it is comming out is just a raw drilled hole with no grommet or anything around it. What can I use here? I am refering to the end that you pull on.

So I want one of these thru deck blocks on both ends of my boom? I do have one on the aft end where it pulls the sail. I am refering to the other end where I pull the line. Thru deck block or exit plate???????????

Exit plates are for when the direction of pull is parallel to the direction it runs (say a main halyard). They cannot redirect the direction of the line like the harken block does.
