The locals sometimes sell specialty items by the roadside. It's been a few years, but I don't recall Bora-Bora being the kind of place one would re-provision. Most of the other islands have more of a local character that supports groceries, not Bora-Bora which seemed like an example of how to destroy an island with tastefully designed tourist traps.

It's been about 9 years since I was on a charter in Bora Bora, but I seem to remember a fairly good sized Chinese-owned (I think) supermarket about a mile from the Bora Bora Yacht Club. We had either anchored or moored off the YC and dinghied to the supermarket, I would guess about a 20 min ride in a 5 hp inflatable. Can't recall the prices but the supermarket seemed adequate. And yes there were vendors selling fruit, etc. by the road in that area as well.
