Here is a couple of boats to consider:
1. Ideal 18. It is trailerable. It has a keel and is very stable. Our yacht club in Milwaukee owns a bunch of these. No cabin though.
2. I have a Colgate 26. Its a little bigger than the other boats you mentioned. It is a great daysailor. Has about a 13 foot cockpit. Don''t know of any boats with a cockpit this big. It has a lot of great saftey features including positive flotation. One was recently his by a 40 foot motor boat going at high speed. Even though it was almost broke in two, it was still afloat. Unfortunately, the boat has only been made for about 5 years, so if you are on a tight budget there are not many used ones out there, and since they are not very old they are not cheap yet. But take a look. They are beautiful looking boats.
