We are in and out of our slip here in South Florida where we have shore power. Is there any benefit to the life of the battery bank to either fully charge the batteries and turn off the charger, deplete the batteries and then re-charge or should we just keep the battery charger on full time while we're in the slip? We have Discover AGM batteries.

Many thanks!

It depends on what battery charger you have. If it is a good three stage charger, then keeping the charger on is a good idea.

I would discharge your batteries to 50% and re-charge to 100% once every couple of weeks when you are using the boat in the slip...just to help keep any sulfation at bay. The rest of the time...just leave it plugged in.
