I was reading a thread about shroud protections. I had an idea.

I installed, (when my boat was new), 4 shroud protections, the realy good ones, that are the UV resistant type, with the slot along the lenght to ease installation, (installs in 1 minute), because my genoa was originally badly cut and touched the edge of the shrouds.

a week later, I re-cut the sail and realized I don't need them anymore, so I removed them..

They are now lying on my boat, causing weight, and getting in the way.

I will give them to you, if you want them. The catch is, my shrouds are 10mm thick, which is not common, so they may be too wide for most of you, BUT...

The first one that comes here, that really needs them AND promises to use them, and is willing to post a photo of his boat with them on, can have them...

I will bring them with me on my next trip to the US and ship to you.

Alex

Have a look at them here bellow...they're nice....a good addition for your boat...then maybe they make you go fast...they were on my boat!:D :D

Alex,

I will take them gladly!!:)

Mine are crumbling from UV/age and they're on my replacement list.

We have very beefy shrouds -- I think they'll fit.

If you can get them to the U.S., we can arrange shipping from wherever you are. - John

OK, John, they're yours then....

I have to go to the boat get them and bring them home...I will make a note.

Now....a serious question...will your chainplates whitstand the loads?????

I mean....It's a lot of load...those babies were in a boat sailing at 12 knots....that's a lot of pull on the shrouds....can your boat take those loads of pull????:laugher :laugher :laugher

You can't imagine the loads those babies endure to pull this "old shoe" through the water. I could probably suspend your entire boat from any one of the SIX chainplates to which the shrouds attach.:p

Yes...off course they could....my boat oly weighs 12.000lbs!!!!

in your case..100.000Lbs / 6 = 16.600Lbs per shroud...yes,,they're good!!

Chew on that!!:D :D

speaking of cahin plates...I only have 2, BUT, the beauty is that pass thru the deck, and are attached to the sides of the hull, and transfer the loads, into the keel!!

I'll make a drwaing of it..pretty ingenious....give me a few minutes to draw it

Ours don't pass through the deck. They are through-bolted to the exterior of the hull only (with backing plates). No leaks. Ever.

They're not even carbon fiber, no wonder you want to get rid of them.

I'm wondering what wimpy material your shrouds are made of that they need protection.:p

Maybe you are just on the happy drugs. :laugher

Get well soon so that you can give a snappy reply.;)

Very nice!!

They will fit.

Much better than my pvc/plastic ones that are falling apart from UV exposure.

Thank you very much!! Now I have one more reason to look forward to spring.:) :)

I am very sorry Alex. It appears John has been banned from our site. He told me to tell you he does not want your stinking protectors junk on his boat. He said, 'old shoe's don't need new strings....' whatever that means.

As such, I will take them. Too bad about John. He was a good moderator. Perhaps I can let him back (I mean maybe he will come back) after my new shipment arrives?

So, you still have my address?
