The boat got pulled today. While they were at it I had the yard guys go up the mast to replace a stay, fix the radar reflector, and pull down a spinnaker halyard that had opened up last month.

They ask if I wanted them to remove the wind instrument for the winter, as long as I was up there. It never occurred to me to remove that. I've always left the stick up and let it sit out all winter. Seems like other boats do that also. Who takes off those things in the winter? Just one more thing to do in the spring.

I usually take mine off b/c our winters are typically pretty nasty. We get storms (beaufort Storms), and lots of snow. I have left it up some years, with no problems, but since I usually go up the mast for some reason before decommissioning, taking the windy down is a minor inconvenience.

I've had to replace several wind tranducers and now take to removing it for the winter. Come to think of it, I'm not sure the yard did it. Thanks for the reminder.
