Hello,

I am working on my 6 pack license and need boat time. Love to sail and fish if anyone has some ideas on how to get some hours and experience let me know. I am in the Seattle area and would like to get some time on a yacht as I am learning how to sail and nothing beats hands on real time experience. Racing, cruising or fishing I am ready to learn and offer what I know.

I checked that out and it sounds like a great idea thanks Marc. I still need to get some time on a vessel though so any thoughts or resources I should check out would be great.

License

Aim higher. Go for a Masters with a sail endorsement. It doesn't require that much more.

Gershel is corect, also you might pick up a towing endorsement as well. Make yourself as marketable as you can. Also one trip to test is better than several. :D

I always did that with my licensng students. It pays off in the end.

Best of luck to you!

I would like to put my 2 cents in. I hold a 500ton Master Lic. and worked the Gulf of Mexico for Oil Co. Retired 2 yrs ago. I suggest starting out as a deck hand first. You would get all the seamanship you need. It is real easy landing a job as a deck hand. You would get practice in boat handling and best of all get paid for it. If you need help in finding compaines hiring I can help. Good Luck.

Thanks Bill I would like to take advantage of your offer to help in landing a job as a deck hand. Question for you, you have a 500ton Master Lic do you charter?
