It may be little comfort to those who lost boats, but we can be thankful it wasn't more than the half dozen boats and their area of dock. The club as a whole sounds like it came through fine, though no doubt there will be some distruption and a lot of shock. "Yacht club burned" seems like an unfortunate thread title since only one area of the marina was affected.

"A sad day for the Rhode Island Yacht Club, as fire broke out at the marina, Saturday night May 10.

We extend condolences to all the members who were affected by this tragic accident. More information will follow."

WOW! Very sad...

I had been looking at joining the RIYC as an alternative to where I keep my boat now. The docks were a little shallow for me to get into with my 5.7' draft, so joining did not make much sense for me. There are a bunch of REALLY nice people there, and my heart goes out to them.
