I am working with a 1978 Yanmar 3qm30. All the hoses water and fuel as well as filters, zincs, etc. need to be changed. This being my first diesel, can anyone point me to a good parts source. I also wanted to ask if there is such a thing as a basic maintenance kit that would include these parts or do people basically order them individually? I also wondered if it wouldn't be cheaper to buy a length of various hose types and sizes and make my own hoses? Or are these hoses shaped for fit? Thanks.

For all of the 'tightly bent and angled' hoses on the fresh water circuit, take what you have to an automotive parts shop and match the 'bends' from common automotive hoses from thier stock ..... just cut away what you dont need.
Youll find that the RAW water hosing can use 7/8" if you cant find 22mm hose ... use reinforced marine grade (wire or polymer reinforcement).

For long and/or smoothly curving hoses I use bulk stuff - automotive heater hose is a biggie. Some of the small "L" shaped pieces and so forth I just go to the factory parts & pay the price.
