I need to buy a circular compass by wendesday. Does anybody know what kind of stores have them? In my town, I have a RiteAid, a Trading Post and some other stores.

I think what you are looking for is called a Protractor and you should be able to find one in a place like Staples, or the school supplies section of larger super stores. The same places ought to also have actual Compasses (the things that you stick a pencil in one leg, and which has a point on the other leg, which you use to draw circles or arcs or circles).

My 5" radius compass was made by STAEDTLER model MARS 968 76-8.
I would think that a place like Staples would carry them, or you could google it.
The Power Squadron issues a 4" one that is a complete circle; and HELIX HO3 made in England is similar.
For plotting, I use a "Course Plotter" that is rectangular in shape and has a compass inscribed in it. That you can get from Weems & Plath in Annapolis.
