I sail a 16 foot Wayfarer dinghy and would appreciate advice on the best anchor for it. Also length of rode. Thanks

You made me read lol.

Apparently there was/is a Wayfarer Mark IV designed by Phil Morrison in 2007 that may not have the Lazarette. Most of the Ian Proctor designed Wayfarers built between 1957-2007 had Lazarettes. Given that the sail number is over 10 000 on the image above, guessing that might be one of the Mark IVs built after 2007 primarily for racing.
That's exactly right. All Wayfarers except the IV have a large, waterproof (ideally) lazarette aft... flotation and storage.

I'm hoping that the trip around Manitoulin will have some safe anchorages but expect that there will be some tying off to shore with bumpers protecting from the rocks.

Yes, it's the Manitoulin 250, organized by the Can Am Dinghy Cruising Association, a fun group of small boat cruisers, active mainly in Ontario and welcoming people from neighboring waters. Here's a link. Log into Facebook.
Is that you Arek as Arcb?

I‘d inquire with them about anchoring conditions. From the sounds of the Canadian Shield, there may be no seabed deep enough to dig into and tying off to shore may be the preferred mooring technique. Still, you might want some ballast to hold the stern perpendicular to shore, with the bow tied off to a tree. A long sturdy line might be your best move.

I‘m curious, do you tent ashore? Sounds like a fun adventure.
It will probably be a combination of tenting and sleeping on the boat, bow tied to shore and stern anchored
