I believe that the pulley is pictured on this site. Go back a few threads. My keel cable enters horizontally at the back of the keel slot upper box (near the center of the keel slot), then the inner cable proceeds down at over a 100 deg angle to attach to the back of the keel. That's why it chaffed so badly. As for the swing keel itself, mine was made of fiberglass & solid foam. At the bottom of the keel there is over 50# of lead shot epoxied into the inside...ask me how I know! I rebuilt the keel of mine with a stainless steel leading & bottom edge so it won't get damaged if it ever hits something. I also bought some lead shot mixed it with epoxy & used it as filler inside the keel. It was a mess when I got the boat. (like everything else)

Goodoldboater,

No, this is not a pop up version. I'm not going to sleep well tonight thinking about my first full day with her tomorrow! Mike

I Need Some Pics of The PopTop Hardware

I have a pop top on my boat but I got the boat without any mast attachment hardware. Can anyone take a picture of the pop top attached to the mast for me? Maybe even some close up shots of the hardware on it's own...thanks.

I think your better off - the pop-top leaks and is a pain to raise and lower (and is HEAVY)...plus the hardware to lock it down in place is hard find to replace...have fun she's a great find.

SPRING 2011: All new standing rigging including on the way for my 77 Spirit 23 from Rigging Only in Mass. Sent them my 33 year-old rigging and they duplicated it all w/ new. Will be re-bedding the side deck plates as well, installing a remote for my 92 Johnson 9.9 hp, replacing sink drain hose (new seacock installed last year), refinish ext wood and some light scraping & touch up of bottom paint. I've replaced the cabin hatch w/ plexiglass.

Current Mods

I ordered a 150% genoa at the boat show yesterday..$533.00 !

Still working on the 12 gal tank installation, it's harder than I thought. There is not much wiggle room.

The outboard came off as well, bringing it in the shop for the leg pressure / vacuum test (no tools) I'm moving the cables down lower on the transom as well to prevent the excessive cable bends. Should be smoother on the remote controls.

The trailer brakes & bearings are redone if these don't last I'm going to put disk brakes on it.

Cabin Battery Housing

Finally a picture of my Cabin house battery arrangement. The Batt Box is Secured by BUNGIE Cords hooked on metal door handles attached to the seat. I use the area BEHING the battery for storage of Spinaker pole, sails, grill, etc.

I need a short VHF antenna for my mast and can't seem to find anything under 3'. Anybody know of a good one I can find online somewhere?

It seems that 3 ft is the normal mast mounted height ?? I read that you should be looking for a 3db gain as well for a sailboat. This allows for the rocking motion of the mast to least affect the receive / transmit ability of the antenna.

Thanks for the help on the antenna, Thats the next major project. But for now, does anybody have any experience with a Thru hull depth sounder?

Main question is, Can it work through the hull? Is the fiberglass to thick? or is the hull cored or anything that would prevent it from working. Trying to avoid a transom mount.

Paul the hull I believe varies in thickness so it depends on where you want to mount it. I removed one on mine that made a 3" hole thru the hull, the glass where it went thru was about 1 inch thick! (about a foot & 1/2 fwd of the shoal keel & post side about 6 inches from center. The hull is solid glass, they don't make them like that anymore, too expensive to hand lay so much glass.

Windyway, I would like some info on your "fix" my cable is also broken, the boat is in the water and I am not familiar with the mechanism. This is a new to me boat and I have not even had it out of the water. I know the cable is broken and from removing the inspection board in the floor it appears the cable, the tubing and everything is pretty rough.
