Can a smaller cat, 34-37', be a good blue water boat?

I want to sail solo across the Atlantic to the Med. After much research, I'm leaning toward a smaller cat but need to know if it can sail to Europe from the US. Examples are Prout Snowgoose 37, Endeavorcat 36, Gemini 105mc.

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Jim

I don't know the other boats as well, but do know someone who delivered a Gemini to Hawaii from mainland US. He was told it was stupid idea before hand, he did not really admit it was after but his stories indicated it was bad idea. I believe the Prout has a better reputation for open oceans.

Don't expect to get very good windward performance on a smaller cat in ocean seas. I believe all of those boats have done west about circumnavigations, but I don't know of any that have done a transAt eastward. Not to say don't do it or that they can't, just that I don't know of any.
Take a year or two more and go west, young man, go west....

Thank you, capta. Would you say there are any cats that are well suited to the eastward, US to Europe, Atlantic voyage?

Sorry, not my area of expertise. I suggest you point this question to the folks who have ocean sailed the more modern cats. If I wanted to do that trip, actually any ocean sail these days (c-19 not withstanding), it would be a Jim Brown Searunner 37.

My 2003 Gemini 105MC was launched in San Diego and sailed to the pacific Islands, Hawai, Tonga, Fiji, New Caladonia, Vanuatu, Bundaberg in Australia then back to Fiji,
I bought it in Fiji and sailed it to Australia,
It now lives in western Port Bay, Victoria Australia,
My cruising ground is Bass Strait, Between the Southern Ocean and the Tasman sea,
Ive been out in winds in excess of 40 knots and Huge seas, My Gem handled it like it was nothing,
Its a very comfortable sea worthy Ocean going vessel,
My Gem has crossed the Pacific Ocean, Coral Sea, Tasman sea, and now is in Bass Strait,

4000Nmiles of Open Ocean, All single handed by me, Plus about 5000 Nmiles around the Pacific by the previous owner,
Tony Smith the Owner and builder of Gemini's sailed one across the Northern Atlantic from USA to England in 2002, The reason I bought mine,
He then ripped out the Cherry wood panelling to make them lighter for the C European classification to Blue water vessel,
Mine was the first of the Blue water variants of the Gemini,

There are 3 Gemini 105MC in Australia, One in Port Douglas, Nth Qld, One in Port Lincoln, SA, Which is about to join mine in Western port bay, Melbourne Victoria,
It will be the first time Ive ever seen another Gemini of any kind, Out of 1200 Made over a 50 year period,
There are quite a few in Hawai,
Quite a few in the med and northern Europe,
Quite a few that have sailed all over the Pacific,

Cheers, Brian,
