If the cylinder hasn't been holed or dented it's good, they have no shelf live

You are supposed to inspect the seal on the cylinder. But for automatic vests you are supposed to replace the dissolving bobbin (that activates in water) every year (or at least every other year) since it is affected by humidity.

 

Depends on the manufacturer and the type of vest. Read the manual.

 

The CO2 Canister has a weight stamped on it, put it on an accurate scale and make sure that it is close to that. They do NOT last forever.
While testing vests we've had several that did not inflate the vest fully.

I've personally witnessed a inflatable pfd, fail to inflate. It puffed, but barely even broke out of the velcro enclosure. The manufacturers define the re-arming period and this one was exactly at that date. Most don't follow it, myself included. We all really should.

 

no need to replace it at all as it would fine and superbly without a worry, even it could run on a single cylinder too...l.

If you're saying that they don't need replacement - You're putting people in danger.

If you're saying that vests have two cylinders, while most don't - You're putting people in danger.
