When I purchased my boat (Spirit 28), both the galley and sink drains were plumbed to the through hulls via a mashup of household plumbing, adapters, hoses, and glue. I didn't much like the looks of all that, so I've since been in search of an elegant way to connect a sink drain to a hose.
I finally solved the head sink (found a drain fitting designed for a 1 1/4 hole, with a 3/4" hose barb), but I've been unable to find a solution for my galley sink, which has a 3 1/2" hole (same size as a household kitchen sink).
Problem is that household kitchen sink drains have a 1 1/2" threaded connection, and I haven't been able to find a 1" hose barb connector that fits a 1 1/2" connection (1 1/4" connectors are commonplace).
Here are the possible solutions, as I see it:
1. Find a fitting that has a 1" hose barb on one end, and a 1 1/2 threaded connector on the other.
2. Find a marine sink drain that fits a 3 1/2" drain hole, with a 1" hose barb.
3. Install a new sink with a 2 7/16 drain hole.
I'd prefer option 1 or 2 -- does such an animal exist, and if so, does anyone know of a source?
