We have a 1986 7.9 S-2 sloop.
We bought as a demostrator, and never got a manual
By the time I gave up on the dealer and wrote the S-2 people they had gone out of business.
If someone has a boat and engine manual that they would be willing to copy for me I would be glad to send you a check for the expense
Thanks

saildrive manual

I don't have your manual, but if it makes any difference, my 7.3 manual is more of a novelty than it is useful. However, I DO have a OMC Saildrive manual that could be VERY useful if you have a saildrive. I suppose I could copy it if you need it. Parts are rare, and I have even had to fabricate my own gaskets, but the saildrive performs awesome when running good. If you have a saildrive, I can help.

In 1987 S2 (aka,) Tierra Yachts stoped production of the sailing fleets. Sail drives were not used since 1983, this might be the stink pots as was referred. If you use the internet (as the above website suggests,) you should find info on your engine and boat from someone, whatever it is, it just takes patience. Ignore the personal unfaverable opinions of anyone dogging anothers opinion. Were here to help everyone! This is this why this website is here.

Can you give any advice to someone whose OMC saildrive on a 8.0 S2 is inhaling water through the exhaust? She starrted, ran and in less than a minute filled the lower cylinder with water. It was cleaned out, a compression test done (it was acceptable according to the mechanic) and then it filled with water again as it was cranked. I hate to go the outboard route but that seems to be the least of all the evils. If you have any suggestions you can e-mail me directly at chamann@cecomet.net
