Greetings,
An old 16 ft Wright Built Sailboat followed me home one day and I have been working on it to get it ready for a trip to GA this Aug. Hull is on the way, thanks to the wooden boat forum. Now I am turning to the sails and rigging. It is rigged to be a fractional rig about a 1/2 rig which does not leave me many options in the used sail market 12' luff.
I am considering changing it to a 3/4 rig which opens the aperature for used headsails. This is happening on a shoestring as you can tell and I still have to do standing and running rigging plus sails.
Any thoughts regarding problems I am facing considering changing the sailplan? It does have 100lbs of 5/16 swing keel. I am also considering purchasing a standing and running rigging sets from EBAY for a Hobie 16 or 18 as it is quite a deal and I think I can get close enough to nicopress them into submission and save dollars. Any other thoughts?
Best,
M
