No one running a Silentwind? How about an Airmaax?

I've been running a Silentwind for two years now. I got it through eMarine. Output is good, maybe a bit lower than advertised but it does run with just a puff of air. At 15-20k it produces about 12-14 amps. It is very quiet. Other factors: Easy install and assembly, all other components seem to be in great shape (the blue logo is fading) break works very well and the unit has held up in 45+ wind, unbraked, my bad.
Now the bad news. After about 1 year the front bearings began to fail. I shipped it back to eMarine and they replaced it. Great! One year later, same problem/symptoms. It was like pulling teeth to get Silentwind to respond. Finally, eMarine stepped up and sent me a bearing set. Bad news, Peerless bearings, made in China. Nothing but bad press online. Good news, NSK makes bearings that will fit. I hope to see the difference come October 2015! It is a shame that manufactures will cut corners on components, NSK are about twice as much, but everyone wants the stuff cheap. Our fault. Good luck with your search, sorry this reply is late.

 

Wish you had been able to chime in last year windnrock. I purchased a SilentWind and have run with it two seasons now. So far it has worked flawlessly. I'm cruising seasonally though (although moving into full-time) so perhaps I've not put enough hours on it yet. I'll pay special attention to the bearings. So far so good. It's performed pretty much to spec, and it is pretty quiet.
