I would compare it to InReach if you want that type of communication.
Imho iridium is muchas better than globalstar.

 

Delormes are nice. But a couple of organisations that I have or would like to race withs race tracking software is only compatible with SPOT, making it essential equipment. For example, Watertribe requires SPOT for race tracking.

 

When you decide to cancel the subscription you must call them on the telephone - you cannot do this via the internet. I found this out the hard way.

RU why do you prefer iridium? I’m contemplating replacing my globalstar satphone and Spot so looking for real-time input to that decision. The globalstar has troubles getting and keeping bars. I thought to get an external antenna but they don’t offer one. They just increased their price. I’ve been told their finances are shaky as is the replacement schedule for their satellites. Any one know further details?
I have had no issues with my Spot but like the sms feature of the InReach.

Happy INreach customer but have no experience with Spot X.

 

I prefer the Iridium Go - does all the tracking that spot does, plus you get real email instead of text, can make voice calls, and get weather gribs, etc. Much more useful device.

 

Lazer, have you seen a real or sample email on a SPOT X? I have been curious what the format looks like. Sounds like your saying it breaks it down into a simple text format?
