Those are trolling motors - not the same as a outboard.

For instance the 82 lb thrust model (the biggest) is about the same as a 1hp engine.

I have a 44 lb thrust (not mariner) - it's okay for dinghy ops of less than 20 minutes, runs my 10 foot rib at 2.5 knots. It managed to push my buddies Coronado 25 (4500 pounds) at 1.2 knots in flat water.

 

I have a Minn Kota 55 lb thrust on my 8' inflatable. Works well and lasts all day trolling or at least a half a day at higher speeds. Smaller and lighter than a gas outboard and easy to put in a locker, no gas to store.
